Plugin updates are included as part of our WordPress website care plans. We’ll update WordPress plugins that are free and that you also hold licenses for. If a problem arises with an out of date plugin license, we’ll inform you of this so you can make an educated decision if you want to renew the license.
We’ll Update WOrdPress
No WordPress update is complete without updates to the WordPress Core software itself. As new versions of WordPress are released, we’ll update your site to the latest version of WordPress. Regular updates can enable more features for your website, plus helps keep your website secure.
Local Encrypted Backups
We store local backups of your website on encrypted drives. Alongside any online backups that may be created as part of your WordPress website maintenance plan, these local backups create another option if a backup of your website needs to be restored.
Uptime Monitoring
Uptime monitoring is included on all of our WordPress Website Maintenance Plans. Your website will be monitored 24/7 for any downtime. If any downtime occurs, Smart Italics will be notified and investigate the issue.
Contact Form Testing
As part of our WordPress Website Maintenance Plans, we’ll regularly test your contact forms, if you have them. We’ll keep an eye on your forms to make sure that your users can contact you and that you are receiving the contact forms successfully.
User Interruption Checks
Before performing maintenance on your WordPress website, we check if there are any live users on your website. If there are, we hold off until there are no active users on your website or schedule a time when user traffic is at its lowest.

In some cases, we may cover this as part of your Website Maintenance Plan, though depending on the complexity and labour involved, we may need to bill additional time, which we would discuss with you before proceeding.
Ultimately while WordPress and self-managed CMS’ require maintenance, many businesses and projects find that the immense capabilities, features and optimisation opportunities of WordPress significantly outperform other platforms.
What Hours Are Smart Italics Available?
We are available 10am-6pm, Monday to Friday AEST/AEDT.
We are closed on Victorian public holidays.
We aren’t a 24/7 Australian sweatshop of WordPress developers, nor do we have a sweatshop of developers overseas. When you call us, you’ll speak with an Australian who most likely like you, appreciates a holiday so that can approach their work refreshed and perform the best that they can.
We do help our clients utilise web hosts, email hosts and domain registrars that provide 24/7 technical support, which they provide as a free extra in most cases, depending on your technical support query. If we’re not available and you’re utilising one of these hosts/registrars, you can contact these hosts/registrars too for support. We can provide our Website Maintenance Plan to users on most web hosts too, whether you’re using a provider in Australia or from overseas.
Does Regular Maintenance Help Website Security?
